FLORENCE, Ky., September 20, 2022 – At IMTS 2022 in Booth 338300, Mazak’s HQR-250MSY Multi-Tasking Turning Center dominated medium to high-volume unattended production with unequaled part processing opportunities and throughput. With enhanced DONE IN ONE® processing, the HQR-250MSY starts with raw material and completes complex parts in single setups.
The twin-turret, twin-spindle configuration of the machine enables its main and second spindles to operate together or separately. This further enables the HQR-250MSY to machine all surfaces of a part through a coordinated “hand-off” between spindles, or to produce two separate parts simultaneously. Balanced cutting and simultaneous 1st and 2nd ops create fast cycle times.
The HQR-250 MSY can handle machining lengths up to 52.20″ (1325 mm) with a 1300U bed length or 33.900″ (860 mm) with an 850U bed, and diameters up to 13.50″ (344 mm) on either configuration. For unattended production, the machine integrates easily with an optional bar feeder or robot loader/unloader. The IMTS machine was equipped with a workpiece unloader and conveyor with a capacity for parts up to 3.15” in diameter, 10” long and weighing as much as 11.02 lbs for unattended machining.
