Mazak to Highlight SYNCREX Swiss-Type High-volume Production of Small, Precise Workpieces at PMTS 2025

Published February 6, 2025 - Mazak will feature high-volume production of small, precise parts from larger size bar stock with the Mazak SYNCREX 38/9 Swiss-Type Production Turning Machine at PMTS 2025, April 1-3, in Cleveland, Ohio. The SYNCREX 38/9 will cut an automotive guide plug in a real-world demonstration and be just one of several high-production technologies showcased in booth 1032.

As the largest machine in Mazak’s broad SYNCREX portfolio, the SYNCREX 38/9 powers through high-speed production of parts from up to 1.5" (38 mm) diameter bar stock, with a nine-axis configuration that includes five spindle motors. Shops can run full bar capacity with no special bar end preparation, and a removable guide bushing adapter enables operators to preset the guide bushing outside the machine. The machine’s 10 hp (7.5 kW) main and second spindles deliver 8,000 rpm, and the machine rapids at a speed of 1,378 ipm (35,000 mm/min) in the X1, X2, Y1, Y2, Z1 and Z2 axes.

Mazak will also showcase its SYNCREX 12/8 Swiss-Type machine. Turning a medical Luer lock in a live demonstration, the SYNCREX 12/8 is an eight-axis machine that handles a maximum turning diameter of 0.4724" (12 mm) and continues the SYNCREX tradition of high-production precision. In its standard configuration, the machine accommodates up to 27 tools – 19 static and 8 live – and accepts a wide variety of optional modular tool holders for customer-specific configurations.

Rounding out Mazak’s focus on high-production, Swiss-style machining will be the SYNCREX 25/9X Swiss-Type machine cutting an agricultural spool valve. With a maximum bar diameter of 1" (25 mm), the SYNCREX 25/9X features nine-axis performance and provides full five-axis contouring using its B-axis tool post.
